RENEGADE GTX MID

The circular Gletscherblick tour is a day-long hike with a medium degree of difficulty. The trail starts and ends at Hemmersuppenalm. You will catch spectacular glimpses of the glaciers of the High Tauern mountains, Lake Chiemsee, the Wendelstein mountain and many other unbelievable landscapes. During the roughly 14-kilometre, 5 ½ hour circular tour, you can enjoy a beverage and snack in the Hindenburghütte, Sulznerkaser and the Straubinger Haus. You should wear sturdy footwear and hiking clothes.

You will follow the trail to the Pflegereck that will lead you through a magnificent mixed forest of mountain trees. From the Pflegereck, you will head towards the Durchkaser-Almen in the next climate zone, passing through a larch forest, a pine forest and high pastures. Starting at the Durchkaser-Almen on the way to Eggenalm, the trail will lead you to a viewing platform – to the south, you will see the glaciers of the High Tauern mountains (Grossglockner/Grossvenediger); to the north, you will view Lake Chiemsee/Wendelstein mountain, and, to the east, you will catch a glimpse of Berchtesgaden’s world of mountains and rock formations of the Steinernes Meer. After passing by the Eggenalm, you will turn to the east and return to the starting point.
